click on the space where you icon/avatar would be. on the following screen, it asks youif you want to change your avatar.
in any photo editing program you can make an avatar but it must be as big or smaller than the size indicated on the screen.
to make it easier, you can right click on my avatar and do a save as and use it as a guide.
